Mary Kathryn Pitts
64, died at 12:00 AM on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at St. Rita's Inpatient Hospice Unit in Lima, Ohio.

Mary was born on August 4, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Andrew F. Szippl and the late Dorothy Mae (Will) Szippl. Her father survives. On Thursday, February 14, 1991, she married Andrew Mitchell Pitts. He survives in Ada.

She retired from the Lima News after twenty-nine years in the advertising department.

She is survived by her daughter, Stacie Sprague, of Lima, OH, son, Shane Sprague, of Lima, OH, step-son, Alan (Connie) Pitts, of Columbus, OH, step-son, Jason (Pat) Pitts, of Phoenix , AZ, and step-daughter, Shelly Pitts, of Ada, OH; seven grandchildren , three great grandchildren; brother, David (Joann) Szippl, of Sidney, OH, sister, Janet (Gary) Swallow, of Lima, OH, brother, Rev. Richard Szippl SVD, of Nagoya, Japan, sister, Margaret (Mike) Madigan, of Harrod, OH, brother, Bill (Jeanne) Szippl, of Ada, OH, brother, Tim (Susanne) Szippl, of Overland Park, KS and a brother, John (Rosie Motter) Szippl, of Harrod, OH.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Szippl.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 followed by a Parish Wake Service at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Lima, Ohio. Rev. David M. Ross will officiate.

Interment will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger, Ohio.
