Mary Marguerite Edwards

Mary Marguerite Edwards, 96, passed away at Roselawn Manor in Spencerville, Ohio on August 19, 2018. She was born on June 24, 1922 in Leipsic, Ohio the daughter of David and Golda Edwards. She was a graduate of Elida High School in 1940. She married Lt. Jerry L. Faze in 1942 and he lost his life in 1944 during World War II in France.

In 1946 she married Richard W. Edwards.  They were farmers with the farm being located on the old Lincoln Highway east of Cairo.  They later divorced. They were the parents of Dean (Pam) Edwards of Lima, and Regina (Kevin) Coates of Harrod. Marguerite worked at Westinghouse, helping in the war effort by winding coils for airplanes and later worked at S.S. Kresge at the hardware counter.  She retired from the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.  She was an avid Elida High School girls basketball fan, following them her whole life.  She was captain of the 1939--1940 basketball team for Elida. She was a Big Ben Pittsburgh Steelers fan, always taking the heat from other family members who were not.  She was also a Lebron James fan, no matter who he played for.  She was a true Scarlet and Gray, Ohio State fan of any sport.  There was never a time that you would not find a calendar with Pittsburgh, O.S.U., or Cleveland Cavs games written down with channel and game time. She was a life member of the ladies auxiliary Post #1275, Lima. She was a member of St. Marks (Grand Ave.) Methodist Church and a member of the Cairo United Methodist Church since 1955 where she taught Sunday school and was involved in many church functions.

She is survived by grandchildren Stephanie (Jason) Patchet of Columbus Grove, Dan (Sarah) Edwards of Xenia, Jessika (Brian) Ackerman and Alexis Wining (friend Corey Conaway) all from Harrod, Great grandchildren Zoey Patchet and Ella (Elly as grandma would say) Ackerman, Step grandchildren Graham Patchet of Findlay, Ryan (Elizabeth) Coates of Lima, great step grandchildren Charlie and Henry Coates. She is survived by sisters Pauline Cook, Dorothy Edwards, and Sue Mauk. She was preceded in death by sisters Loma Keeling, Emogene Evers and brothers Robert Edwards and Thomas Edwards and a step grand daughter Ruth Coates.

As per her request there will be no public viewing and a private immediate family service will be at a later date.
