Matthew Courtney

Matthew Courtney , 48 , passed away on April 2, 2022, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Matthew was born on May 3, 1973 in Lima, Ohio, to Jack and Dorene (Parlette) Courtney.  On August 13, 2016 he married Sherrie Courtney, who survives in Lima.

Matthew was a member of the VFW and enjoyed fishing. He was an avid Dolphins fan. Matthew loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Sherrie; children, Johnathan (Brittany) Zimmerman, Matthew (Kala) Courtney, Brady Courtney, and Austin Courtney; step-children Lonnie Rader, and McKenzie (Travis ) Green; siblings, Cindy Courtney, Ted (Mattie) Kohli, Veronica (Craig) Long, Rena Freed, Jason (Glenda) Kohli, Deirdre (David) Morgan, Josh Kohli, and Michelle Meitzner; 10 grandchildren; grandmather Ruth Parlette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandfather Ercil Parlette.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
