MAX E. GROVES, 70, died at 5:34 a.m. November 21, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1935, in Fostoria, Ohio to Glenn and Luella Wagner Groves. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives. On October 1, 1960, he married Carolyn R. Lawson, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Groves retired in 1988, as an inspector from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant, after more than 31 years. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2661 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, and a 23-year member of the 4th Degree-Bishop Neumann Assembly 829. He was treasurer of the Lima Astronomy Club and a projectionist for the Findlay Stamp and Postcard Club. He was an Army veteran. He was a sports fan. Survivors also include a son, Jeffery A. Groves of Leesburg, Virginia; a daughter, Alicia M. Groves of Lima, Ohio; two brothers, Donald (Mary Kaythryn) Groves of St. George, Utah, and Thomas (Debbie) Groves of Fostoria, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Groves. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church. The Rev. David Ritchie will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 616 S.
