Maxene Jones, 88, died at 3:25 a.m. August 13, 2010, at her residence. She was born February 16, 1922, in Hardin County to Calvin ?Cole? and Jane Elizabeth ?Jennie? Chiles Winegardner, who preceded her in death. On December 24, 1943, she married Ralph D. Jones, who died June 25, 1994. Mrs. Jones was the deputy treasurer for 32 years for the Allen County Treasurer?s Office. She was a member of the Harrod United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer for 20 years. She was also a Sunday school teacher and adult leader for the Methodist Youth Fellowship. She volunteered as a 4-H adviser for the Harrod Cheerful Workers 4-H Club for 40 years. She was a member of the Allen County 4-H Council, Extension Advisory Committee and had also served on the OSU Extension State 4-H Advisory Committee. In 1969, she was the first recipient of the ?Mrs. Ohio Homemaker of the Year.? Survivors include two daughters, Jackie (Gary) Austin, of Harrod, Ohio, and Jo Jones, of Lima, Ohio; a son, Randy (Dana) Jones, of Harrod, Ohio; six grandchildren, Greg (Adrian) Austin, Jeff (Kristi) Austin, Kelli (Todd) Cosart, Trevor (Kerri) Jones, Troy (Sara) Jones and Travis (Leslie) Jones; and 15 great-grandchildren, Alexandr Austin, Jackson Austin, Caleb Austin, Mallory Austin, Cole Austin, Marah Austin, Michaela Cosart, Camden Cosart, Caden Jones, Addison Jones, Deacon Jones, Delaney Jones, Olivia Jones, Rilynn Jones and Keagan Jones. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard D. Jones; an infant grandson, Todd Jones; an infant great-grandson, Zane Cosart; a brother, Robert Wingardner; a sister, Evelyn Winegardner; and a half-brother, Armand Miller. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima. Pastor Roger Emerson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
