Melvin P. "Pete" Gorrow, 81 of Lima, Ohio died on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Wyngate Senior Living Center in Lima, Ohio.
Born Sunday, September 8, 1929 in Niagara Falls, New York, he was the son of the late Edward Gorrow and the late Blanche Gilbert Gorrow.
On October 8, 1955 he married Ruth Reichenbach. She preceeded him in death. On January 2, 1988 he married Laura Wright. She also preceeded him in death.
Mr. Gorrow had been a Grand Trunk Western Railroad police officer for 30 years. He had advanced in rank to Inspector of Police. He was a member of Cable Road Alliance Church in Lima, Ohio. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, having served in the Army as an occupational therapist in Japan and Cadry at combat medic school at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, until discharge in 1954. He was also a member of the American Legion.
In honor of his request there will be no visitation or graveside service.
Surviving are daughter, Susan (Lawrence) Griesemer of Lima, OH, Two Grandchildren, Daniel Griesemer, and Sarah & Daniel Schumacher, sisters, Arlene Sayers of Portland, OR and Marie Myers of Lockport, NY.
He was predeceased by brothers, Richard Gorrow, Edward Gorrow and Eugene Gorrow.
. Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, OH. Memorial contributions may be sent to Per family request, instead of sending flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to the St. Rita's Hospice or to a local food pantry..
