Meredith Harmany Loftis

Meredith Harmany Loftis, 91, of Plano, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 9pm in Plano, TX. 

 On September 12, 1932, she was born in Inglewood, California to the late William Charles Harmany and Mildred Belle {Gaver} Harmany. On March 16, 1952, in Lancaster, OH, she married Homer Jennings Loftis, Jr. who passed in 2017. A sister, Thalia Jean (Bill) Spangler and brother, William, Jr. also proceeded her in death. 

She is survived by her daughters, Brienne Loftis of Plano, TX and Merriel (Kirk) Miller of Lebanon, OH; sons, Scott (Pam) Loftis of Graham, TX, Alan (Kay) Loftis of Elida, OH, and Grant (Pam) Loftis of Lafayette, OH; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Roger (Nancy) Loftis of Melbourne, FL; and a sister-in-law, Mary Anne (Mark) Anderson of Jackson, OH. 

 Meredith attended The Ohio State University and achieved her teaching certificate. She taught at Horace Mann elementary school in Lima. She worked for the American Cancer Society and is retired from Sears in Nashville, TN, and Lima. She was a member of Lafayette Methodist Church in Lafayette, OH and the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. 

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 10 – 11am at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, OH. A funeral service will follow the showing at 11am at the funeral home. Pastor Bob Clinger will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, OH.
