57 of Lima, Ohio died on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.
He was born May 26, 1953 in Bluffton, Ohio to Raymond and the late Imogene Conrad. Merle is survived by a step-father George Smith of Lima, Ohio and a sister Joyce (Bob) Northrup of Lima, Ohio and an Aunt Beverly Ann Huffer of Lima, Ohio. Merle was a wonderful, loyal and faithful friend to many. He constantly put the needs of others before his own. He was a caring man, always willing to listen and lend a helping hand. His friends were most fortunate and enriched to have had his friendship. His kindness and charitable acts towards those in need was endless. Doug, Janis, Neil, Brian, Tonya, and Erin Koenig; Terry Daily, Fred Reed, Kami Truman; Betty, Wayne, and Allan Shadley, and Susan Risner will miss him dearly. Merle was a master at working on small appliances and could fix anything. He enjoyed and treasured his vast array of collectables. He enjoyed playing cards and watching T.V. with his loved dogs "Felony" and "Lucky" who were his constant companions. He worked many years in Property Management/Maintenance. The past 12 years for Mid Am Investments where he was invaluable and will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by Aunts Leota Louise Neely, Sandra Marlene Kemper, and an Uncle, Carl Martin Priestap
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Monfort officiating. The burial of ashes will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, OH.
