Michael Collopy, 75, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022 at his residence in Lima..
Michael was born on October 2, 1947, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Bernard Collopy and Lillian (Pyatt) Collopy.
Michael was a graduate of Philo High School and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Michael was a people person and would give the shirt off his back for a stranger. He was always proud of his family. Michael enjoyed working outside, mowing grass. He loved music and riding free on his motorcycle.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Smith, Tracy (Rob) Eberle, and Billi (Shane) Hollar; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Stephen (Gloria) Collopy, and Doug Collopy; and a brother-in-law, Dave Jones.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Leo Collopy, Dan Collopy, Ron Collopy, Gary Collopy, and Linda Jones.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Randy Davis will officiate. Celebration of life dinner will follow the service at the VFW. 124 E. Elm St. Lima. Burial will be Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
