MICHAEL HURLOW, 62, of Corpus Christi, Texas, died at 9:55 a.m. July 14, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born June 1, 1944, in Galion to Charles Stanley and Lillian Brokaw Hurlow, who preceded him in death. On July 12, 1969, in Lima, he married Maureen Frueh, who survives in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Hurlow was the assistant director of the physical plant at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi, Texas. He previously served as a mechanical superintendent at Texas Tech University for more than 20 years. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in music at Ashland College. He was band director at Lima Central Catholic High School from 1966 to 1968. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Lubbock, Texas. He was a soloist for many weddings and funerals. He was a member of the Corpus Christi Civic Choral and toured Europe with the Lubbock Civic Choral in 1995. He was a cantor at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Port Arkansas, Texas, and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Lubbock, Texas, the latter for 18 years. He was a volunteer for Turtle Patrol Padre Island National Seashore. He was an avid fisherman. Survivors also include two daughters, Andrea Hurlow and Kendra (Ron) Mell, both of Lubbock, Texas; a brother, William (Diana) Hurlow of Galion; a sister, Patricia (Herb) Keen of Galion; three grandchildren, David Michael Waldrip, Joshua Ryan Carpenter of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Tristan Hunter Mell; and 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Chandra Hurlow; and a grandson, Bradon Mell. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lima. The Rev. William J. Rose will officiate.
