Michael Raymond Thieman, 71, died at 12:30 a.m. Aug. 20, 2010, at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born June 7, 1939, in Milan, Ind., to Raymond and Irma Greive Thieman, who preceded him in death. On June 14, 1964, in Seymour, Ind., he married Nancy Redicker, who survives in . Mr. Thieman was a 1957 graduate of Aurora, Ind., High School. He retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel after having served during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm eras. He was a graduate of the Army War College. He retired from Bank One as an area property manager. Mr. Thieman was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445, Wapakoneta, the Reserve Officer Association and the Armor Association. He was active with and supportive of the Boy Scouts and a member of the Cairo Gun Club. In 2003, Mike and Nancy began their journey by boat from Lake Erie to Key West, Fla. They wintered until 2005 when Hurricane Wilma sank the boat. The completed the ?half loop.? Survivors also include a son, Jonathan (Dawn) Thieman, of Streamwood, Ill.; two sisters, R. Susie Thieman, of Hawaii, and Jane (George) Stodola, of Minneapolis, Minn.; an uncle, Ted (Joanne) Greive, of Akron; three nieces, Jennifer Gall, Kris Roarke and Kim Miller; three nephews, Steve Redicker, Mark Redicker and Brad Fravel; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Gall; a brother-in-law, Doug Gall; and a niece, Lori Dobbins. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pastor Michael A. Phillips will officiate. Burial will at a later date in Riverview Cemetery, Aurora, Ind. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the church.
