Mildred H. ?Millie? Baka 78, died at 2:25 p.m. January 22, 2008, at her residence. She was born January 13, 1930, in the Bronx, New York City, to George and Rosa Sestorak Baka, who preceded her in death. Miss Baka retired from Westinghouse Electric Corp. where she began working in 1965. She was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. She was a member of the Allen County Senior Citizens. She was a graduate of St. Ursula?s Academy. She was a veteran of the Women?s Army Corps, serving as a staff sergeant from 1955 to 1965. She loved playing bingo and making yearly trips to Florida. In her younger years, she played volleyball for Westinghouse and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors include a sister, Irene Peters, of Wapakoneta, Ohio; three nieces, Linda Cartwright, of Columbus Grove, Ohio, Bonnie Rosenbeck, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Sherrie First, of Lima, Ohio; two nephews, Larry Peters, of Lima, Ohio, and Herb Monroe; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Monroe; a brother, George Baka; and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. The Rev. James McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 191 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772.
