Milton Dale Pilkerd

Milton Dale Plikerd, 85, of Lima passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 1:12 pm at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home in Lima where he had resided for the past several months due to declining health.

Mr. Plikerd was born on June 28, 1933 in Lima, Ohio to the late Roscoe D. Plikerd and Elzora E. (Purdy) Ford. He married Beverly A. (Bogart) Mikesell Wine later in life and they enjoyed 17 wonderful years together. She preceded him in death on January 23, 2005.

Milton graduated from Lima Central High School in 1951, proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict era, and had attended The Ohio State University. In his younger years he worked for Ford Motor Company and for various real estate and insurance agencies around the area. Also in his younger years he was active in the Lima Jaycees, Trinity United Methodist Church, later St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, and lastly New Hope Christian Center. At retirement time he was the owner and operator of Acme Answering Service. After retirement, Milton enjoyed maintaining a beautiful home, lawn, and gardens with Beverly, visits with her large family, wood carving, reading, being computer savvy, loving on his little dog Sweetie, cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes, and volunteering at St. Rita’s Medical Center. His most recent pride and joy was his great granddaughter, Zoey, and he cherished time spent with her.

Milton was preceded in death by his wife, parents, nine siblings and a grandson Zachary T. T. Grandi. His former wife, Judith J. (Hanes) Plikerd Jones, and mother of his only child also preceded him in death on October 1, 2000.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Kimberlee L. and Eric S. Grandi, one grandson; Zane M. M. Grandi, one great granddaughter; Zoey L. Grandi, all of Russells Point, Ohio and one brother Dr. William D. (Sharon) Plikerd, DDS of Newark, Ohio. He is also survived by many family members of his late wife Beverly.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2pm on Thursday, December 6 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor James Menke officiating,

Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Milton’s honor be made to any worthy cause of the donor’s choice.
