Monty R. Hamilton
66, died at 11:30 PM on Sunday, September 11, 2016, surrounded by his family, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Monty was born on May 22, 1950, in Kenton, Ohio to the late Ioda B. (Gooch) Wickliff and George D. Hamilton. On November 27, 1971, he married Arnena Mary (Sebastiano) Hamilton who preceded him in death on April 17, 2007.
Monty was a graduate of Bliss College of Columbus, Ohio, fondly called the "Mighty Briefcases". He was a "highly trained federal agent" for the Department of Treasury in the IRS for his entire career of 38 years.
He had a lifelong love of Drum and Bugle Corps. He met his cherished wife when they were young teens where he was in the Bellefontaine Angels and Arnena was a Vacationland Sweetheart. Later, he started the Summer Dreams Foundation bringing drum corp shows to Lima. He was a member of the Market Street Presbyterian Church where he was an elder, finance committee member, sang in the choir, ran the youth ministries, and played in the volleyball and softball recreation leagues. He enjoyed coaching girls floor hockey and being a Girl Scouts troop leader for his daughters and a Boy Scouts den master for his grandsons. He enjoyed volunteering at the Westside Swim and Racquet Club and the Men's Garden Club.
He is survived by four daughters/exemptions, Tina M. (Jeff) Hamilton-Shoemaker of Lima, OH, Bethany J. Hamilton, of Powell, OH, Christy N. (Daniel) Tennessen, of Brownsburg, IN and Monica R. Hamilton, of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Aaron J. Snider, Derek J. Snider, Brandon J. Snider, Grace A.M. Shoemaker, Spencer N. Shoemaker, Josiah B. Shoemaker, Shiloh I. Shoemaker, and Canyon G. Shoemaker, Douglas R. Tennessen, Joshua M. Tennessen, and Michael R. Hamilton. Sister, Rhonda (David) Fairclough of Swanton, OH and Brother, Dion (Sue) Wickliff of Zionsville, IN, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-4PM and 6-8PM on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 11AM on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Market Street Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Arnena M. Hamilton Nursing Scholarship Fund
