Joseph F. Link , 93, of Lima passed away at 10:10 AM on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Primrose Community of Lima, among loving family, friends and staff.
Joseph was born on Monday, October 6, 1919, in Lima, Ohio, and was the sixth of twelve children by the late Joseph F. Link, Sr. and Gladys (Lyle) Link.
On Saturday, October 7, 1961, he married Marjorie E. Huber and had 50 wonderful years until her death on April 15, 2011.
Mr. Link was a 1937 graduate of Lima St. Rose High School, a member of St Gerard's Catholic Church, Lima, the Elks Lodge #54, Lima and was a life member of the D.A.V. He was a Red Cross First Aid Instructor for many years. Mr. Link had been a supervisor of Shipping/Production Planning at Lima Register where he worked for 34 years, where he enjoyed many good times and many good friends. He started the Credit Union at the Lima Register and was President when they merged with Wright Patterson Credit Union in Dayton. He was a Past President of the Lima Area Chapter of Credit Unions and a Past Vice President of the Independent Union at Lima Register. He was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corp where he served as a radio and radar operator.
He is survived by: a brother, John V. Link of Dover, DE,; two sisters, Virginia Niewold of Green Cove Springs, FL, and Teresa Brown of Lima, He and his wife Margie also enjoyed all one hundred, sixty of their nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by: six sisters, Sister Agnes Miriam, Mary Holman, Sister Rose Seaton, Sister Ann Joseph, Ruth Murray, and Helen Hittle; and two brothers; William Link and Robert Link.
The family will receive friends Thursday June 13, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:30PM at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. There will be a Elks Lodge of Sorrow Service followed by Parish Wake Service at 7:30 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 14, 2013, at 10:30 am at St. Gerard's Catholic Church with Father Mike Houston officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada, Ohio.
