Nancy Joan Raver, 80, died at 4:03 a.m. May 12, 2010, at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home, Wapakoneta, Ohio. She was born June 8, 1929, in Lima, Ohio to Everett Ellis and Frances Davis Edmiston, who preceded her in death. On May 15, 1953, she married Chester ?Chet? Raver Jr., who died October 22, 2003. Mrs. Raver taught art in her home studio since 1977. She had also taught art in a continuing education program at OSU-Lima/Lima Technical College for several years and for LTC at Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant Learning Center. She was a member and a volunteer at the Lima Allen County Humane Society. She also volunteered at Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District and for pet therapy. She had been a member of the Lima A Group and had been a foster parent. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Annette (Patrick) Rohrbach, of Wapakoneta, Ohio; a stepson, Douglas (partner George Nichols) Raver, of Lima, Ohio; a sister, Betty Smith, of Cridersville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Travis L. Rohrbach and Shane E. Rohrbach; and two foster grandchildren, Garrett Guthrie and Austin Graymire. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Nicholas ?Nick? Raver and Shiloh Rohrbach; a brother, Davis F. ?Fritz? Edmiston; a brother-in-law, James Smith; and a sister-in-law, Gwen Edmiston. Private graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton. Memorial contributions may be made to Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District, 2355 Ada Road, Lima, OH 45801; or the activities fund at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home, 1010 Lincoln Ave., Wapakoneta, OH 45895. The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the staff at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home for the kindness, dignity and compassion shown to her and her family. The Manor became her home and the staff cared for her as though she were a member of their own family. It was her wish to have a private graveside service.
