NANNIE ELLEN HAYES, 82, died at 12:45 p.m. April 4, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born April 27, 1922, in Artemus, Kentucky, to Lee Elbert and Ruby Mary Elizabeth Fannan Jackson, who preceded him in death. On December 14, 1941, she married Boyd Hayes Jr., who survives in Elida, Ohio. Mrs. Hayes was a homemaker. She had been a food demonstrator for Purnells Sausage and had worked at Woolen Mills. She was a member of Lima Baptist Temple. Survivors also include four sons, Leon "Lee" (Janelle) Hayes of Elida, Ohio, Jerry (Dixie) Hayes and Dennis (Debbie) Hayes, both of Lima, Ohio, and Thomas Hayes of Palm City, Florida; a brother, Homer Lee (Virginia) Jackson of Barbourville, Kentucky; two sisters, T. Christine Balliet of Ocalla, Florida, and Helen (Lawrence) Williams of Lima, Ohio; and 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Jackson and Denver Jackson; and four sisters, Clara Simpson, Ida Carter, Sudie Jackson and Nellie Melton. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Gary Hohman and the Rev. Ronald B. Cannon will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
