Naomi C. Buetner,
97, of Elida, Ohio died on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 5:16 P.M. peacefully at home surrounded by her children.
Born April 1, 1915 in Allentown, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Levi Laman and the late Grace (Kennedy) Laman.
She married Homer "Bud" Buetner on December 22, 1939. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1982. Although Naomi was a homemaker for most of her life, she had also worked at the Banta Candy Store and at Westinghouse prior to having their children. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, golfing, bowling, and gardening and antiques. Naomi leaves a legacy of love. She was a selfless lady who invested herself in her family and friends. Her home was a hub of endless gatherings where everyone was welcome. She was a quiet doer; dropping off a pie or a meal when someone was sick, taking flowers to those who needed encouragement, and so it goes on. After her husband's death she cared for her stepfather-in-law, Fred Geier, for seven years in her home. He lived to be 105.
When interviewed by The Lima News at age 79 she was asked what her greatest treasure was. Naomi replied, "That's easy, my family and friends."
Surviving are: a son, Brad (Joyce) Buetner of Elida, OH; two daughters, Karen (Butch) Oglesbee of Lima, OH and Kathy J. (Dave) Davis of Elida, OH; seven grandchildren, Chad Oglesbee, Angie (Scott) Evans, Jaden Oglesbee, Bradley (Brittney) Buetner, Josh (Joy) Buetner, Brooke (John) Zerbe, Beth (Scott) Graham; seventeen great grandchildren, Katie, Levi, Brandon, Kayla, Brey, Baylor, Daulton, Dylan, Alivia, Brayden, Brodey, Claire, Zack, Blake, Colton, Brinklee, Lacey; three great great grandchildren, Isabella, Savannah, Cayden; a sister, Jeanette (Clyde) Rader of Seminole, FL; a sister-in-law, June Laman; and loving caregiver, Juanita Joseph of Van Wert, OH.
She was preceded in death by: three brothers, Clark Laman, Norman Laman and William Laman; three sisters, Evelyn Pennell, Esther Shellenbarger and Nora Kowalsky.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with John Zerbe officiating.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida, OH.
