Nicholas J. Ehora, Sr., 88 died at 11:20 A.M., October 6, 2011 at his son's residence in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was born March 25, 1923 in Lima to Samuel and Marie Gregoria Ehora who preceded him in death. On September 24, 1954 he married Patricia M. Hubbell who survives.
Mr. Ehora retired in 1985 from West Ohio Gas and had worked a number of years at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lima and Tamarac Golf Course. He had been employed by Pride of Lima Meats and the Nickel Plate Railroad. He was a graduate of Lima South High School and was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. He was an avid sportsman and was known throughout the community as either a great fast-pitch softball pitcher. a great bowler, a great golfer or a man who could cut a mean rug on the dance floor as well. He loved games of chance and would never pass up the opportunity to join in a game of poker. He was especially proud of his Romanian heritage who along with his siblings were first-generation Americans. He loved his family and they loved him back.
He is survived by two sons Michael L.(Shirley) Ehora of West Palm Beach, Florida and Nicholas J. (Peggy) Ehora, Jr. of Lima, a daughter Tina M. (Shawn) Jackson of West Palm Beach, Florida; six grandchildren Wendy (Randy) Coleman of West Palm Beach, Florida, John (Susan) Avery of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Matthew (Nicole Herr) Ehora, Hayley Brown and Alexander Ehora all of Lima; six great-grandchildren: Michael, Emily and Austin Avery of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Zachaira Ehora, Nyteah and Jadon Mundy of Lima; a great-great-granddaughter Zakilagh; sisters-in-laws Dolly Ehora Edwards, Audrey Metzger, Mary Jo Stewart and Carolyn Smith and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son Samuel; a brother Pete Ehora; three sisters, Victoria (Michael) Bender, Helen Pangle and Irene (Edward) Cratty; his in-laws Roy and Opal Hubbell; and a great-grandson James Mundy.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 P.M. October 23,2011 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon until time of the service.
