Norma Barrett Gooderding

Norma R. Barrett-Gooderding, 86, died at 9:25 p.m. June 12, 2010, at Springview Manor Nursing Home, Lima, Ohio. She was born February 18, 1924, in Auglaize County, Ohio to Alexander and Frances Etgen Schweitzer, who preceded her in death. On December 7, 1943, she married her first husband, Ora A. Barrett Jr., who died in January 1989. On September 6, 1991, she married Raymond M. Gooderding, who died August 21, 1996. Mrs. Barrett-Gooderding worked at Westinghouse, North Star Woolen Mills, The Leader Store and Greggs in the Shoe Department and then worked for Coca-Cola Bottling, retiring after 25 years. She was a member of P.E.R.I. and the Ohio Federation of Farm Women. She was an avid bingo player, loved gardening, watching birds and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidering. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia (Robert R.) Gross, of Elida, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Irene Steiner and Helen Phillips, both of Lima, Ohio; a granddaughter, Karinda (Donald) Miller, of Elida, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Austin Miller and Chloe Miller. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Schweitzer and Edgar Schweitzer. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain ?Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Samuel Payne will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Wapakoneta, Ohio. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
