Oscar Jones,

Formerly of Lima, Ohio, won his final battle with cancer at 1:17 a.m. on February 8, 2016, when his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ushered him into the gates of heaven.

He is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Brad) Buetner and Carol (Jeff) Jones, of Elida; a brother, Clyde (Karen) Jones, of Texas: a sister, Jessie Griffith, of Lima; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Dodds, of Florida; a stepdaughter-in-law, Stephanie Everhardt, of Lima; three grandchildren: Bradley (Brittney) Buetner, of Lima; Josh (Joy) Buetner, of Elida; and Brooke (John) Zerbe, of Spencerville; two step-grandchildren: Chad Everhardt and Jamie (Robb) Frost, of Lima; ten great-grandchildren: Brey (Megan) Buetner, Baylor, Brodey, Blake, and Brinklee Buetner, of Lima; Daulton, Dylan, and Alivia Buetner, of Elida; Claire and Zack Zerbe, of Spencerville; four step great-grandchildren: Kaleb and Korbin Everhardt, of Lima and Kayla and Jacob Frost, of Lima; and one great- great grandson, Bryce Buetner, of Lima; and a special neighbor and go-to friend, Ed (Mary) Quill, of Florida. A sister, Opal (Jim) Slone; a brother-in-law, Ruben Griffith; a stepson, Kevin Everhardt; and a step son-in-law, Danny Dodds, are deceased.

Oscar was born December 27, 1924, to Lyman and Sopha Stone Jones in Flat Gap, Kentucky. On September 5, 1947, he married Esther Fogt, after serving in the U.S. Army during WWII. His wife died August 26, 1992.

In 1993, he moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, and married Patricia Everhardt on October 15, 1994. His second wife died August 17, 2013.

He was employed by Superior Coach as a tool maker for 35 years, General Dynamics as a lay-out inspector for 10 years, and MidBus for two years.

He was a D.A.V. member. He was a member of Union Chapel Missionary Church and First Missionary Church in Lima, and he attended the Church by the Sea in Florida.

Mr. Jones will be sadly missed and remembered as a spiritual rock to his children and as a "machine" to his grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Chamberlain-Huckeride Funeral Home Thursday, Feb. 11 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. A funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 12, at 1. Visitation will also be held from noon until 1 on Friday. John Zerbe will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Graveside Military honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #1275.

Donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation of Clearwater, Florida; Paralyzed Veterans of America, or Wounded Warriors.
