Paul W. Kreher, of Lima, passed away from his life on earth to heaven at Lima Memorial Hospital on January 6, 2023, at 11:40 p.m. due to heart failure at the age of 95.
He was born on March 2, 1927, to the late William and Salome (Binkley) Kreher in Lima. He was a 1945 graduate of South High School. He served in the Army during World War II. He retired from City Loan and Savings as a Branch Manager and then worked 13 more years at Superior Credit Union as a loan officer.
He married Ruby Lutterbeck of New Knoxville on March 17, 1963 and would have celebrated their 60th anniversary in March.
Paul was a lifetime member of 1st Evangelical and Reformed Church in Lima where he taught Sunday School for 67 years. He also served as an elder. He and Ruby spent many years as Senior High Youth Fellowship Advisors. He was a lifetime member of Lima Elks Lodge # 54 where he served as an officer. Also a member of Eagles, American Legion and Board of Directors Emeritus of Salvation Army and a Jefferson Award Winner. Paul was known for his big smile and always had a kind word for everyone.
He is survived by his wife Ruby of 60 years and two daughters, Susan (David) Blocher of Troy, Ohio and Nancy (John) Lautzenheiser of Bowling Green, Ohio; four grandchildren, Maria (Tyler) Hess, Sarah Blocher, Paul and Andrew Lautzenheiser. He is also survived by a brother, Stanley Kreher of Rochester, New York.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Chaplin Peter Citerin will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 1st Evangelical and Reformed Church. 320 W. Wayne St. Lima, Ohio 45801 or The Salvation Army.
