Paul William Schulz, “Bill”, born on January 20, 1946, was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 5:15 a.m. He was born in Lima, Ohio to the late Paul William Schulz Sr. and Nancy Ann Thrasher. On December 10, 1966 he married Sylvia Marie Grouver, who survives in Elida.
Paul attended Lima Senior High School. He was drafted into the US Army in 1966 and served for two years. Paul worked at Teledyne Ohio Steel for 23 years as a truck driver, and also in the Furnace Department. He then worked for Nickel’s Bakery as a route driver for 20 years. Upon retirement, Paul served for three years as the head of maintenance for the West Central Learning Academy and also served as a Mentor. Paul was a longtime member of the Lima Community Church where he served on the Pastor’s Prayer Team, was an Alpha Leader, as well as a leader for Celebrate Recovery. He was also the leader of several different Discipleship Groups. Paul previously had been a member of Gardendale Church of God where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and volunteered for years as the operator of the sound system. Additionally, Paul served for numerous years on the American Township Board of Appeals Committee. Paul was an exceptionally talented handyman. He enjoyed working on cars, and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Paul is survived by three children, Lonnie (Kendra) Schulz of Lima, Ohio, Mindy Schulz of Elida, Ohio, and Matthew (Jessica) Schulz of Jacksonville Beach, Florida and five grandchildren; Melanie Schulz, Paul Schulz, Ryder Schulz, Hunter Schulz, and Colton Schulz.
Paul will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we know we will see him again one day when Jesus calls us to Heaven.
Viewing will be held at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018. Services will be held at Lima Community Church of the Nazarene at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service. Pastor Doug Boquist will be officiating. Contributions can be made to Lima Community Church.
