Pauline RENTZ

PAULINE RENTZ, 91, died at 5:26 a.m. Dec. 3, 2004, at her residence. She was born Jan. 20, 1913, in Prospect to Peter and Bessie Knecht Schlegel, who preceded her in death. On June 18, 1938, in Russells Point, she married Frederick William Rentz, who died Sept. 13, 1979. Mrs. Rentz was a teacher and homemaker. She was a 1934 graduate of Wittenberg University and taught at Chagrin Falls schools for three years. She was a member of West Elm United Church of Christ and its Willing Workers and Women's Fellowship. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Altrurian Club and volunteered for the American Heart Association for many years. Survivors include two sons, Dr. F. Peter (Mary) Rentz of Pittsfield, MA., and Dr. David J. (Kathryn) Rentz of Cincinnati; a daughter, Susan (Lowell) Flickinger of Prince George, Va.; two sisters, Katherine Moran of Strongsville and Margaret Cain of Russells Point; seven grandchildren, Deborah (John) Rentz-Moore, Sarah Rentz, Eric (Hildelisa) Flickinger, David (Mary Ellen) Flickinger, William (Tabor) Flickinger, Caroline Rentz and Michael Rentz; two great-grandchildren, Alex Flickinger and Carrie Flickinger; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rentz Cunningham of St. Louis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ann Louise Rentz. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Elaine Mikesell will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
