Phyllis A. Hoeper Evans, 75, died at 8:30 p.m. June 27, 2010, at Lima Memorial Health System. She was born July 2, 1934, in Lima, Ohio to Harry H. and Rebecca Niemeyer Hoeper, who preceded her in death. On August 22, 1954, she married Garth K. Evans, who died Febebruary 21, 2006. Mrs. Evans retired as a graphic artist from CSS Publishing Co. She was recently involved in a prayer shawl ministry and had made prayer shawls that were given to patients at Lima Memorial Health System and her church. She was a member of First Evangelical & Reformed Church, where she served as a deacon. She had served her community through the years by volunteering with different organizations. Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia (Andrew) Ruckman, of Oberlin; two sons, David Evans, of Lima, Ohio, and Michael (Barbara) Evans, of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Monica Evans, Lindsay Evans, Samuel Evans and Sarah Evans; two step grandchildren, Andrew Ruckman III and Eleanor Ruckman; two great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Leila; two step great-grandchildren, David and Jackie; a step great-great-grandchild, Jolene; a sister, Dorothe Mosier, of Lima, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Gary Evans, of Lima, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by twin infant brothers and a niece. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Ed Rinehart will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical & Reformed Church, 320 W.
