Phyllis Tuttle Hill, 85, died at 7:24 a.m. January 8, 2010, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. She was born December 21, 1924, in Lima to Herbert U. and Hazel Pennell Tuttle, who preceded her in death. On January 24, 1948, she married Richard K. Hill, who died June 9, 1999. Mrs. Hill was a member of Market Street Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Shawnee Country Club. She loved sports and was an avid golfer. She was featured in Sports Illustrated for winning 28 Shawnee Country Club Championships, 11 Lima City Championships and five Sea Pines Country Club Championships. She was a first year inductee into the Lima-Allen County Golf Hall of Fame. She was a graduate of Lima Central High School, attended Holling College, Roanoke, Va., and was a graduate of The Ohio State University, Columbus, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Survivors include a son, Craig Hill, of Clemmons, N.Carolina; a daughter, Sonnie Hill, of Hilton Head Island, S.Carolina; and two grandchildren, Jessica Hill and Christopher Hill, both of Greensboro, N.Carolina She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Ann Hill; and a brother, Tom Tuttle. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Susan Reichenberg will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
