PHYLLIS STRAIN ROGERS, 77, died at 3:55 p.m. March 2, 2007, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home. She was born June 1, 1929, in Monroe County, Indiana, to William H. and Bernice Jean (Hammond) Strain. On April 14, 1949, she married Willis Kay Rogers, who survives. Mrs. Rogers was a homemaker. She had been an administrative specialist at Ball State University and Indiana University in Bloomington. She was an accomplished fork art painter and did many other crafts. She was past president of the Elida Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6741. Survivors also include two sons, Frank (Rita Armstrong) Rogers, of Freeport, Maine, and Michael (Lori) Rogers, of Elida, Ohio; two daughters, Donna Jean Rogers of New Albany, Indiana and Roxanne Rogers & Paul Nau, of Melrose, Wisconsin; a brother, Joseph (Sonia) Stain, of Santiago, Chile,; a sister, Alice (Norman) Hessert, of Elkhart, Indiana; five grandchildren, Mary Armstrong Rogers, of Boston, Andrew Armstrong Rogers, of Freeport, Maine, Jessica (Clint) Roberts, of Delphos, Ohio; Elizabeth Armstrong Rogers, of Freeport, Maine, and Nicholas Rogers of Elida, Ohio; and great grandchild, Tanner Roberts, of Delphos, Ohio. Services will be held at a later date. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
