Polly Welker, 75, of Lima, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at her home.
She was born on July 19, 1948, in Lima to the late Howard and Helen {Bland} Quickle. On October 19, 1977, she married Kenneth G. Jarman, who preceded her in death in 1985. In June of 1990, she then married Jerrold “Jerry” Welker, who preceded her in death in 2014.
Polly served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1969. She retired from Lowe’s Home Improvement and had previously worked at Rinks, Cooks United, and K-Mart. She was a member of the Spencerville American Legion #191 and its Auxiliary, where she was three times Past Commander, the District Adjutant, and a member of the Past Commanders Association. She was also a member of the Spencerville Veterans of Foreign Wars #6772 Auxiliary, Spencerville Clown Unit, and the Westside Lions Club. She belonged to the Allentown United Methodist Church in Allentown, Ohio.
She is survived by her daughter, Cassandra (Louis) Jarman and her children, Kenyon and Ken’Nya Jarman; daughter, Dawn (Mike) Valerio; son, Ferris (Amber) Brown and his children: Eden (Zach) McIntosh and their children, Saige, Alice, Penelope, and Zach Jr., Jenna Cook, Brooke (Rob) Morris, Meghan (Cody) Bercaw and their children, Macii, Lilly, Athena, and Lincoln, and Evelyn Brown; step-children: Venus (Jim) Ruffner, Glenda (Jason) Kohli, Tabitha Moore, Stephanie (Tom) Johnston, Kenneth (Mindy) Jarman, Christina (Jason) Stombaugh, and Tonya Cottreal; 19 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Nora Michael.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Sherer; niece, Janet Quickle; and nephew, William Sherer.
Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 12 - 2 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.
