Ralph William Nusbaum, 86 of Lima died at 6:49 A.M. January 26, 2012, at Baton Rouge Senior Health Facility in Lima
He was born January 11, 1926 in Lima to Leonard and Florence Lambert Nusbaum who preceded him in death. On September 12, 1948 in Lima he married Mary Kempf she died April 22, 2004.
He was a graduate of Lima Central High School in the class of 1944. He was a veteran of World War II, and served in the Army from Feb. 2, 1944 till May 1, 1946. He attained the rank of Sergeant serving with the 42nd Rainbow Division, 232 Regiment, Company "K" and a recipient of the Bronze Star.
He worked in the Transportation Department at the Sohio Lima Refinery for 37 years, retiring in 1984. He belonged to the First E & R Church and was a member of the VFW Post #1275, the Colonial Golfers Club, the Sohio Quarter Century Club, the Rainbow Division Veterans Association, and the Lima Refinery Golf League. Ralph enjoyed all sports, especially golf. He also loved playing cards with his friends at Baton Rouge.
Surviving are: three sons, Theodore W. "Ted" (Carol) Nusbaum, Mark K. (Krista) Nusbaum, and Bob (Jamy) Nusbaum - all of Lima, Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Amy (Chad) Rode, Carlyn (Ryan) Howard, Scott (Anamaria) Nusbaum, Shalyn (Shawn) Dotson, Christian (Nicole) Nusbaum, Josh (Heather) Howard, Nicole Howard, Kendra Howard,;and eleven great-grandchildren: Haley Rode, Lea Rode, Camden Howard, Alaina Howard, Trent Dotson, Bryce Dotson, Marah Dotson, Brianna Howard, Marcel Howard, Mason Howard, and Aiden Howard. Also surviving is a sister-in-law Helen Kempf (Jim) Vonalmen.
He was preceded in death by: a brother and sister-in-law Charles and Doris Nusbaum; a brother-in-law, Robert Kempf; and a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Billy Welker.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Rhinehart officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, OH.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 20, 2012 from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
