Ray Brinsfield

RAY V. BRINSFIELD, 86, died at 1:52 p.m. October 26, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born August 17, 1919, in Lima, Ohio to Ray and Evon Stumbaugh Brinsfield, who preceded him in death. On July 18, 1942, he married June Ellen Garlock, who preceded him in death. Mr. Brinsfield retired from Westinghouse Electric Corp., after 40 years. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, the Westinghouse/Sunstrand Retirees Club and American Legion Post 96. He was an Army veteran serving from June 10, 1944, to November 15, 1944. He had lived at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home for two years. Survivors include two sons, Gary T. (Susan) Brinsfield of Waynesville, Ohio and Ronald R. Brinsfield of Lima, Ohio; two sisters, Helen (Raymond) Swallow and Betty (Douglas) Hadding, both of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren, Chad Brinsfield, Bethany (Mike) Brinsfield-Hanes, Brett Brinsfield, Melinda Jenson and Christopher (Robin) Rex; six great-grandchildren, Sommer Rex, Samantha Rex, Christopher Rex, Theran Hogan, Roger Hanes and Ava Maria Brinsfield; a son-in-law, Ed (Alice) Rex of Lima, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Joe (Pat) Garlock of Lima, Ohio and Karl (Jeanette) Garlock of Salter Path, N.Carolina; and five sisters-in-law, Sister Beatrice Ann Garlock of Cincinnati, Ohio, Martha (Junior) Kuhlman of Lima, Ohio, Kate (Richard) Dilts of Portsmouth, Ohio, Barbara Garlock of Lima, Ohio and Carolyn Garlock of Findlay, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Thressa Rex; a sister, Ruth Ross; and a brother-in-law, Harry Ross. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas Lacey will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gerard Catholic Church or the Father Herr Scholarship Fund.
