Ray L. Strayer

75, died at 10:55 AM on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.

Ray was born on November 12, 1942, in Lima, Ohio, to the late LaVerne Strayer  and Geraldine  (Detrich) Strayer.  On June 17, 1991, he married Nancy L. (Armstrong) Strayer. She survives in Lima.

Ray worked as maintenance worker at Lima Central Catholic for 10 years and as a warehouseman at Scot Lad Foods for 30 years, from where he retired.

He is survived by his children, Julie (Tony Gilroy) Scott, of Lima, OH, Jan (Ted) Ralston, of Lima, OH, Catherine (James) Grothouse, of Delphos, OH, Mark (Renee) Smith, of  Lima, OH, Elaine (Mark) Davis, of Harrod, OH, ten grandchildren, Amanda Isabell, Katie Scott, Logan Ralston, Megan Pummell, Tony Gilroy, Emily Gilroy, Ericka Smith, Andrew Grothouse, Olivia Smith, Emilee Grothouse,  Abigail Smith; four great grandchildren, Dillan Isabell, Sasha Isabell, Haylee Davis, Xander Davis; and one brother, Gerald (Wanda) Strayer, of Lima, OH.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, March 2, 2018, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio followed by a memorial service.

Rev. Charles Obinwa will officiate.

A private family entombment of the ashes will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum at a later date.
