Raymond Elmer Doyle 96, died at 3:10 p.m. Sept. 7, 2009, at Lima Convalescent Home. He was born July 14, 1913, in St. Louis, Michigan, to Elmer and Myrtle Mesker Doyle, who preceded him in death. His mother died at his birth. On December 31 1932, he married Dorothy Keeling, who died November 4, 1968. Mr. Doyle went to barber school in Lima and barbered in the Lima area for 64 years, retiring in 1994. For 37 years, he operated Doyle?s Barber Shop in the Dominion Building, 108 E. High St., Lima. He then relocated to Smallwood?s Barber Shop for 10 years when the Dominion Building became an apartment building. He was a member of the Elm Street Church of the Brethren and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of quite a few. In his later years, he enjoyed watching baseball, going to Eagles on Saturdays and family get-togethers. Survivors include two sons, Jim (Dorothy) Doyle and Tom (Cheryl) Doyle, both of Lima; and four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert ?Bob? Doyle; a grandson, Steven Doyle; three brothers, Lynn, Patrick ?Pat,? and Stanley ?Mike? Doyle; and a close companion, Jo Starkey. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastors Wesley and Sue Richard will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Mendon.
