REX ALLEN DIEHL, 51, died at 3:57 a.m. April 16, 2005, at his residence. He was born September 8, 1953, in Lima, Oho to Harry John and Patricia Ann Dahill Diehl, who preceded him in death. On August 9, 1985, he married Carol Jean Meihls, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Diehl worked for Ford Motor Co. and would have retired May 1. He was a member of the American Legion Post 96, Lima, Ohio, and the Orioles Nest 173, Lima, Ohio. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and AMVETS. He served in the Navy from January 28, 1971, to September 25, 1973, during the Vietnam War. Survivors also include a stepfather Alan Niehaus of Lima, Ohio; a son, John (Melissa) Diehl of Celina, Ohio; six daughters, Jeanie Brown of Lima, Ohio, Michelle Meyer of Delphos, Ohio, Angie (Tim) Copeland of Harrod, Ohio, Mandy (Jason) Wickard of Lima, Ohio, Janis (Ty) Miller of Lima, Ohio and Jennifer (Ron) Leffman of Holland, Michigan; three brothers, John Diehl of Key West, Florida, Ray Diehl of Lima, Ohio and Scott Diehl of Lima, Ohio; four sisters, Barbara Patterson of Spencerville, Ohio, Peggy Donley of Lima, Ohio, Janis Miller of Lima, Ohio and Doris Newland of Lima, Ohio; and 22 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Grace Skinner and Joshua Nanchoff. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Doug Adams will officiate. The cremains will be buried at 11 a.m. Friday in Bluelick Cemetery, where VFW Post 1275 will conduct military rites.
