R George Nichols, 73, passed away on August 15, 2023, at his residence.
George was born on February 5, 1950 in Salyersville, Kentucky to Hargis and Polly Ann (Keaton) Nichols. He married Doug Raver who survives him in Lima.
George worked as a short order cook at King Burger, Huddle and the Beaverdam Truck Stop. He loved gardening, landscaping, and taking care of people. He was known for his cake baking and decorating skills, and made them for many friends and family members.
Along with his husband, he is survived by his sons, Garett (Michelle) Guthrie and Austin Graymire; grandchildren, Makenna and Alyssa Guthrie; brothers: Elwood “Woody” (Linda) Nichols, Wayne (Greta) Nichols, Martin Nichols and Randy Nichols; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Lisa (Jack Linet) Rohrbach, Rick (Debi) Colwell, Jani (Phil) Coomes, Tim (Anna Dirks) Colwell, and Todd (Shelli) Colwell; numerous nieces and nephews; and several other friends and family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Glistine Rhine, Katherine Ann Long, Anna Marie Bailey, Eddie Lee Nichols, Kelly Nichols, R. C. Nichols, Carl Nichols, David “Bucky” Nichols, and Casper Nichols: and also by his In-Laws.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. A funeral service will follow 11 a.m. with Chaplain Glory Geib.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lima Firefighters Memorial Museum.
