Richard Remy ?Dick? Brigode 87, died at 7:57 a.m. Feb. 14, 2010, at his residence. He was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Charleston, W.Va., to Ace and Carmen Pacot Brigode, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 5, 1942, in Kentucky, he married Winona Bernetta Rogers, who survives in Lima. Mr. Brigode retired from Lima Electric and Union Oil Co. He had also worked at Steel Castings, a steel foundry in Lockland. He was an Army veteran, serving from Nov. 1, 1942, to Feb. 28, 1944. He was a member of Gomer United Church of Christ. He was a member of Fort Amanda Lodge 706 Free & Accepted Masons, and a past master at Lodge 121 F&AM, St. Marys, a former member of Sidney Commandery Knights Templar and had been a Rainbow Dad for several years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a gentle man. He loved to golf and had a hole in one. He also loved woodworking. Survivors also include a son, Richard R. (Christine) Brigode Jr., of Columbus; two daughters, Judith Ann (James) Liette, of Tipp City, and Sheryl Lynn Long, of Willard; eight grandchildren, James C. (Angie) Liette, Katherine Ann (Nick) Stute, Dr. Timothy Allen (Diane) Liette, Lauralee (Bill) Jingo, Christopher Richard Brigode, Christopher Michael (Leah) Long, Jennifer Noelle (Matthew) Ripke and Corynne Elyse (Zachary) Schafer; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert D. Brigode, and a sister, J. Jane Brigode. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. The Rev. Brian Knoderer will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Lima Memorial Hospital Home Health or St. Rita?s Home Health Care.
