Richard Hunter

RICHARD A. "DICK" HUNTER, 70, died at 9:55 a.m. September 14, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born December 8, 1934, in Tremont City to Robert and Winnie Hunter, who preceded him in death. On February 15, 1955, he married Carolyn Pruitt, who survives in Elida, Ohio. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in February. Mr. Hunter retired as a photographer from The Lima News, where he had worked most of his life. In 2001, he retired as manager of the audio-visual department at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was a member of NOARC Amateur Radio Club. His ham operator call letters were KA8FFK. He had been a member of the Lima Area Remote Control Club. Survivors also include a son, Mike (Jennifer) Hunter of Akron, Ohio; three daughters, Denise Hunter of Lima, Ohio, Melanie (Ron) Johnson of Bascom and Catherine Leis of Bluffton, Ohio; two sisters, Martha Dixon of Phoenix and Gladys Lewis of Dayton, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Kerry Kerezsi, Steven Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Victoria Johnson and Elizabeth Leis. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Hunter and Robert Hunter; and a sister, Lois Hunter. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Kevin Mohr will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Elida, Ohio. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
