RICHARD JOHN JUDY, 77, died at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 16, 2005, at his residence. He was born Dec. 4, 1927, in Lima to Elmer and Gertrude Lowden Judy, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 5, 1948, in Lima, he married Donna Hammer, who survives in Lima. Mr. Judy retired after 30 years from the Ohio Steel Foundry as a machinist. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Lexington during World War II, from Jan. 3, 1945, to July 12, 1946. He received the Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Marks Methodist Church, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Lima, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Lima. He was the AFL-CIO treasurer and recording secretary for 30 years for United Auto Workers Local 975. Survivors also include two daughters, Linda (John) Graves of Waldorf, Md., and Connie (Roy) Thrush of Birmingham, Ala.; two sons, Mark (Laurie) Judy of Dayton and Tom (Donna) Judy of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; two sisters, Merriam Grimsley of Memphis, Tenn., and Patricia O'Connor of Lima; and 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lowell and Bill Judy; and five sisters, Treva Martin, Maxine Contris, Edith Ogle, Jean Littler and Edele Stopher. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Howard Allison will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275.
