After retiring from the Navy, he worked for several years at Sears in Brunswick as an auto mechanic and an electronic sales associate. He also worked at Aubuchon Hardware in Lisbon Falls until he ended his working years in 2005.

He is survived by his wife Jane of Lisbon; a son Craig of Lisbon; his daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Daryl Morrill of Lewiston, Maine.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Sunday June 26th, from 1 to 3pm, at the Slovak Club in Lisbon Falls.
