Richard G. Murphy
90, of Lima, passed away on December 24, 2017 at Springview Manor. He was born on June 28, 1927 in Lima, Ohio to the late William S. and Alice {Custy} Murphy.
On July 16, 1955 he married Janet Garner who survives in Lima. Richard graduated from St. Johns High School in 1945. He retired from Westinghouse Engineering Dept in 1987. He was a member of St. Gerards Catholic Church, Westinghouse Veterans Assoc., Eagles Lodge #370, St. Gerards Holy Name Society, and the oldest life member of B.P.O. Elks #54.
He is survived by his wife, nieces and nephews Jerry and Gerry Murphy of Dayton, Rose Fischback of Delphos, Jim Murphy of Lima, Charlie and Teresa Murphy of Indiana, George and Jessica Murphy of Alabama, Tim and Teck Murphy of Lima, Maureen and Don Mauer of New Jersey, Kevin and Judy Murphy of Georgia, Craig and Stacie Murphy of Las Vegas, Dan Murphy of Lima, Chris and Mike Babinsky of Lima, Jean and Dave Seel of Indiana, Mark Murphy of Indiana, David Murphy of Indiana, Celia Brown of Lima, Denny and Jackie Murphy of Florida, Bill and Pam Murphy of Columbus, Deb Vanidiver of Centerville, Tom and Janet McPheron of Lima, Mary Fredericks of Centerville, Jim McPheron of Lima, Phil Volpe of Columbus, Kathy and Mike Ryan of Virginia, Janet and Paul Konieck of Columbus, and Mike Dorley of Lima, sister-in-law Katie and Jim McPheron, and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his nephew Mike McPheron, niece Diane Dorley, brothers Alfred, Charles, Leo, Don, Louis, Leonard, William, and Robert, and sisters Alice Lane and Betty Clancy.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 2-7PM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11AM on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Gerards Catholic Church. Fr. Mike Houston will officiate. Burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.
