Richard L. Osborn Sr., 68, died at 5:45 p.m. March 14, 2009, at his residence in the presence of his family. He was born on April 26, 1940, in Kenton to Harry and Betty Smith Osborn, who preceded him in death. On January 27, 1967, he married Karen Williams, who survives in Lima, Ohio Mr. Osborn had worked at Procter & Gamble Co. as a security officer for Securitas. He had also worked at Hercules Tire and Rubber, National Standard Rawls Division, and at the Children?s Developmental Center. He was U.S. Navy veteran assigned to the USS Ticonderoga, serving from Jan. 31, 1958, to Feb. 3, 1964. He was a former member of the Lima Traffic Club. He had been active in coaching midget football. He was an avid fisherman and loved his place on Kelley?s Island. He taught all his children and grandchildren to fish. He leaves behind many fishing friends. Survivors also include a son, Richard L. Osborn Jr., of North Carolina; four daughters, Tammy S. (fianc? Joe McDonnell) Lehman, of Lima, Ohio, Cynthia A. Osborn, of Buckeye Lake, Ohio, Kristine C. (Douglas) Poland, of Hagerstown, Indiana, and Kimberly L. Dickerson, of Lima, Ohio; a sister, Shirley (John) Born, of Wharton; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Osborn, of Durango, Colorado; a very dear sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Edna and Ralph Davis; eight grandchildren, Justin (Emily) Lehman, Jennifer Lehman, Jaime Lehman, Jacob Lehman, Tyler Poland, Erika Dickerson, Amber Dickerson, and Jessica Cockerell-Osborn; a great-grandson, Peyton Benefield; three close uncles, George (Pat) Smith, of Kenton, Ohio, Chuck Smith, of Kenton, Ohio, and Steve (Francis) Smith, of Alabama; and a beloved dog, Misty. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Brent E. Lehman; a brother, John Osborn; his maternal grandparents, Annabelle Hines and Floyd Smith; and his paternal grandparents, Marie and Walter Osborn. Services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Adams and Ralph Davis will officiate.
