Richard Ward

Richard H. Ward, 103, passed away on July 3, 2022 at Kessler Estates in Lima.

Richard was born on January 12, 1919 in Lima, Ohio, to Harry H. and Myrtle (Billing) Ward.  On September 1, 1946, he married Dorothea (Schrag) Ward who preceded him in death.

Richard served with Patton’s 2nd Armored Division “Hell on Wheels”, earning 8 Battle Stars. He also retired from Duff Truck Lines.

He is survived by his daughter, Sue (John Schulte) Spencer; grandchildren, George A. (Becky) Henderson, and Jennifer R. (Jeffrey) Moyers; great-grandchildren: Dylan Moyers, Zakkary, Kasidy, and Kylie Henderson; great-great-granddaughter, Raelynn Wilson; a brother, Harry E. (Gene) Ward; and a sister-in-law, Carol Ward.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Steven M. Spencer; and siblings: Mary Ward, Marcella Klinger, Harmer Ward, and Carolyn Keith.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m.  Pastor Dan Lee will officiate.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.

Memorial contributions may be made to 173rd Airborne Brigade Association.
