Richard P. Webb, 83 of Lima.

We are all diminished by the death of Richard (Dick) Patrick Webb, born Jan. 5, 1934 to Cloyd Webb and Hanora Dahill Webb. He passed on February 20 at home, as he wished, surrounded by his beloved family. Dick's father, Cloyd of the Lima Fire Department was one of the last firefighters to die on the job in Ohio. Dick, joined the department shortly after his father's death, serving the Lima Community until he retired as Assistant Fire Chief. Three of Dick's brothers also served as Lima firefighters, Alfred (Pete), Cloyd (Jim), and Thomas. Only Pete, of Boise, Iowa survives. Dick's oldest son, David, made his career on the Lima Fire Department and also retired as Assistant Chief; this family of Lima public servants were known as the Fire-Fighting Webbs. Dick was also preceded in death by brothers, Cloyd "Jim", Thomas, William and his sister Mary Godfrey.

Dick married the love of his life, Dorothy McCann and remained devoted to her for more than 65 years. Dorothy survives him, as do his five children, Patricia Webb Mantel (Charlie), David A. Webb (Jenny), Cathy Webb Stoodt (Steven), Nancy Irene Webb, and Chad A. Webb, all currently of Lima, 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild to be.

He was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges where he made many dear friends, but to Dick, his wife and family were everything. To those of us who remain, he was the ultimate husband, father, grandfather, and brother. No one in our family will forget how much he loved us, his humor or what we called "grandpa-isms." Truly, he was the grand Patriarch of our family and his wisdom, wit and kindness will be dearly missed. May he rest with God in Heaven, knowing that he lived his life well and that he was very loved by everyone who knew him.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, 920 N Cable Road, Lima, OH.

Funeral service will be on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Father Mike Sergi will officiate.

Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
