Richard Werking

RICHARD LEE "DICK" WERKING, 69, died at 4:24 a.m. December 11, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born July 7, 1936, in Lima, Ohio to Maynard E. and Margaret Corrello Werking. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Lima, Ohio. On March 15, 1959, he married Wanda Ellison, who survives. Mr. Werking retired as a water treatment plant operator for the city of Lima, Ohio. He was a 1954 graduate of Lima South High School. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1954 to 1956 and had also served in the National Guard from 1956 to 1962. He was an avid outdoor sportsman, especially enjoying fishing and hunting. He loved being with his grandchildren and watching the History and food channels. Survivors also include three children, Jayne (Tom) Hilvers of Lima, Ohio, Tim (Karen) Werking of Loveland, Ohio and Amy Werking of Lima, Ohio; a sister, Penny (Carl) Bucher of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Hilvers, Michael Hilvers, Nathan Hilvers, Adam Werking and Erin Werking; two nephews, Bob Bucher and John (Britton) Bucher; a niece, Sarah (Tim) Stidham; and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janice Lynn; and a nephew, Tom Bucher. Services will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at South Side Christian Church, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 following the service. The Rev. Doug Adams will officiate. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
