Richard (Dick) Musto, (78) of Lima, Ohio entered Heaven peacefully on August 19, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born January 28, 1940 to Arnold O. and Margaret (Perrine) Musto who preceded him in death. Richard is survived by his loving wife and life partner of 57 years, Jacquelyn (Jackie) Musto; his children Christina (Bill) Nagy of Jefferson City, TN, Ann Marie Musto of Sunnyvale, CA, Gina (Bill) Gephart of Hilton Head Island, SC, and Vincent Musto of Lima, OH. He leaves a legacy of 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Richard is also survived by his brother Arnold (Sonny) (Patricia) Musto.
Richard was a 1959 graduate of Lima Senior High School and a retiree and former vocational teacher with Lima City Schools. He was a proud member of the Cairo Sportsman’s Club and Tri-State Gun Collectors.
Richard’s faith was paramount to his life work in service to God. He was a member of the Lima South Side Christian Church. His strong conviction to his faith underscored his selfless devotion to his wife, family and countless others. Richard gave of his time and resources to help those in need and was always inclusive and welcoming to everyone. He was a loyal friend to many and a respected member of the Lima community. Richard, particularly held great respect for the Native American culture. He developed many bonds and friendships with the native people, who warmly named him Grey Bull. In his retirement, he and Jackie traveled to countless pow wows and to the western U.S. to meet with native tribes and to enjoy the culture which made him most happy. He was an artist who designed intricate Native American clothing & ritual attire.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 23rd between 2:00-400pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Chamberlain - Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Christian memorial celebration will be held on Friday, August 24th at 11:00am at South Side Christian Church in Lima.
In memory of Richard, the family requests that donations be made to the “The James Fund for Life” at the Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, 660 Ackerman Road, P.O. Box 183112, Columbus, OH 43218-3112 or online at give.osu.edu/cancerfreeworld. Gifts in Richard’s honor will benefit the cancer research program at The Ohio State University.
