Richard J. “Dick” Gleason

83, died at 5:45 AM on Friday, December 15, 2017, at  Shawnee Manor Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.

Richard was born on September 27, 1934, in Springfield, Illinois to the late Stanley  and  Marguerite (Flesch) Gleason.  On July 6, 1957, he married Nancy Sanner, who preceded him in death.

Dick was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1993. Dick was a member of the K of C 4th degree; and past Grand Knight. He was a longtime member of the Toledo Diocesan Cursillo Movement, and the Chaplain at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was an electrical engineer at Westinghouse and General Dynamics.

He is survived by his children, Rick (Jean) Gleason, Kevin Gleason, Dennis (Connie) Gleason, Beth (Kevin) Weaver, and Brian Gleason; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Bill Sanford, and sister-in-law, Patricia Scanlan; and numerous nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by two daughters Mary Kay Sanford and Margie Gleason, a brother, Robert Gleason, and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Gleason.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home followed by a wake service at 7:00 P.M. officiated by Deacon Ted Kaser.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. St. Johns Catholic Church, Lima, Ohio. Monsignor Marvin G. Borger and Rev. David Ross will officiate.

Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Catholic Church.
