Robert N. Cheney Sr., 72, died at 10:45 p.m. Dec. 23, 2008, at Lima Manor Nursing Home. He was born May 2, 1936, in Lima to Lewis and Viola (Mauch) Cheney, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 1, 1956, he married Carole Anne Griffin, who died Aug. 13, 2003. Mr. Cheney retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1990 as a supervisor. He was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 513 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 199, both in Lima. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Survivors include five daughters, Mary (John) Raines, of Wapakoneta, Jennifer (fianc? Brad Tipple) Cheney, of Columbus, and Karen (Randy) Roberts, Brenda (Brad) Benedict, Kathy (Michael) Kinsley, all of Lima; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Cheney, of Lima; nine grandchildren, Damon, Amity, Drew, Branden, Bobby, Austen, Jon Michael, Lewis and Elizabeth; and six great-grandchildren, Cole, Grace, Brady, Carter, Johnathan and Lexie. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Cheney Jr., and a brother, Jack L. Cheney. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima. The Rev. Howard M. Allison will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
