Robert L. "Bob" Dillhoff,

65, of Elida, Ohio died on Monday, December 10, 2012, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.

Born January 13, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert M. "Big Boy" Dillhoff and the late Margaret "Marj" (Gatto) Dillhoff.

Bob married Teresa Henderson, his wife of forty-two years, on June 27, 1970 in Delphos, Ohio. She survives in Elida. Bob retired in 2006 from the Ohio Department of Transportation as Highway Management Administrator for District 1. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and a 1965 graduate of Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati. In 1970, he received a BA in Civil Engineering from the University of Dayton, where he also trained in the ROTC. He was on the Board of Directors for the Union Bank, Delphos, OH and worked for many years with Mike Swaney's Buick GMC in Wapakoneta, OH. He founded Dillhoff Builders and managed the construction of many family homes, mostly in the Laurel Oaks neighborhood in Elida. He loved to travel and plan trips, was a golfer, a Reds fan, and a Bengals fan. He also cheered for the Buckeyes and the Fighting Irish.

Bob was a selfless, generous man who was never happier than when he was helping someone else. Relatives and friends often called him for advice on their car troubles, home purchases, and travel plansa�"Bob always had a listening ear and a wealth of knowledge to share.

Above all, Bob was a family man. He loved his wife, Terri, completely and provided for her before himself. He cherished his children and made every band concert and little league game his priority. He worked tirelessly in all he did, but managed to be home for dinner every night.

Surviving are: a son, Matthew (Malisa) Dillhoff of Kettering, OH; a daughter, Megan Dillhoff; a grandchild, Charlotte Dillhoff of Kettering, OH; a brother, William "Bill" (Kathy) Dillhoff of Cincinnati, OH; four nephews, Keith (Dinora) Dillhoff, Joe (Michelle) Metzger, Mark (Jessica Hutchins) Henderson, Jim (Jennifer) Dillhoff; three nieces, Ann Marie (Erik) Schousboe, Rachel (Jarrod) Smith, and Jill (Arian) Antonucci. Bob cared deeply for his grand-nephews and -nieces.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 14, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at St. Charles Catholic Church with Father Stephen Blum officiating.

Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, OH.
