Robert Ellinger

ROBERT JOSEPH ELLINGER, 63, died at 6:22 a.m. May 7, 2007, at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born February 27, 1944, in St. Louis Missouri to Marcella Ellinger, who preceded him in death. On September 28, 1968, he married Shirley A. Hemmert, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Ellinger retired from the Army, after more than 21 years. He had also worked at General Dynamics for three years and at Honda for 18 years. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Holy Name Society. He had coached soccer at Bath High School and for local club teams. He was a member of American Legion Post 96. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, who had a great attitude and loved life, his family and his country. Survivors also include two daughters, Shandra (Tim) Parker and Sunita (Mark) Clark, both of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Robert Joseph "Rob" (Erin) Ellinger II, of Fishers, Indiana; his twin brother, Donald J. (Donna) Ellinger, of Botkins, Ohio; and eight grandchildren, Shea Parker, Sydney Parker, Savanna Parker, Anthony Parker, Ruberta Clark, Robert Joseph "Tres" Ellinger III, Lauren Ellinger and Aubrey Ellinger. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. The Rev. George Blasick will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
