Robert Wilbur Huckeriede, 78, of St. Marys, OH, died Friday, December 9th at 5:30 PM at Joint Township Hospital in St. Marys. He was born November 17, 1933 in Auglaize County to Wilbur and A. Ruth Steva Huckeriede who preceded him in death.
On May 5, 1956 he married Shirley Janelle Kuck who survives.
Other survivors include: sons-David A. (Jan) Huckeriede of Lima and Richard J. "Dick" (Nan) Huckeriede of St. Marys; daughters -Suzann ( Doug) Pusser of New Albany, OH and Laura ( Mark ) Maag of Glandorf. He has eleven grandchildren: Brian (Jackie) Huckeriede, Thomas Huckeriede, David Pusser, Madison Pusser, John Steinke, Michael Terry, Zach Ferrall, Ali Ferrall, Macy Ferrall, Ashley Maag, and Katie Maag. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Lou ( Robert) Rutkowski of Centerville, a sister-in-law, Cindy Huckeriede of Garrett, IN, and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carol (James) Moss of Fishers, IN.
He was preceded in death by his brother James L. Huckeriede; a grandson, Anthony David Huckeriede; and his step-mother, Mary L. Adams-Huckeriede.
Mr. Huckeriede retired from Goodyear Rubber Co. after 31 years. He also owned and operated Huckeriede Lawn Service for over 30 years. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where he served as a mentor. He was also a 1951 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and a lifetime fan of Roughrider sports. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington from 1956-1958. He formerly pitched fast pitch softball for Parker Motors and slow pitch softball for the Moulton Merchants. He had a love of the outdoors, lawn care, hunting and spent many Sunday afternoons playing hockey on the Forty Acre Pond. He and his wife, Shirley enjoyed traveling and visited all fifty states and many countries. He enjoyed playing practical jokes on his family and friends.
Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys on Tuesday, December 13 from 2-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 14 at 11 A.M. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys.
Rev. Dr. Ed Bray, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
