Robert Norton, 92, died at 9:07 p.m. January 22, 2009, at Springview Manor Nursing Home, Lima, Ohio. He was born April 14, 1916, in Lexington, Kentucky, to Edward T. and Thecla C. Keller Norton, who preceded him in death. On December 7, 1943, he married Emily Virginia Wilkerson, who preceded him in death. Mr. Norton retired from Union Carbide. Following his retirement he worked for the State of West Virginia as an industrial hygienist. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He received his bachelor?s degree in chemical engineering from West Virginia University. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was an avid reader and enjoyed working puzzles. Three of his 18 grandchildren, Tim, David and Joe Mullins, grew up in Lima. Survivors include six children, Martha (Robert Honigford) Mullins, of Lima, Anne Cappelletti, of West Virginia, Joseph (Susan Stanczyk) Norton, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mary (Terry) Mullins, Patricia (Mark) Lindsay and Virginia (Randy) Johnson, all of West Virginia; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven siblings. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Albans, W.Va. Father Patrick McDonough will officiate. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, W.Va. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans, W.Va.
